What does i9 mean?
i9 Sports means "i to the 9th power" due to 9 words that start with the letter "i" that the founder felt described the organization: Imaginative, Innovative, Interactive, Integrity-driven, Impassioned, Inspirational, Instructional, Insightful, and Inclusive.
What sports does i9 offer?
In our territory (405), we currently offer basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football, and baseball.
We plan to add more soon, so check back periodically!
How many practices do you have a week?
One Practice Per Week! i9 Sports is known to be fun for kids and convenient for busy parents by hosting practice right before the game once per week.
How long will the program run each week?
This depends on the age group - our Pee Wees (approx ages 3-7) have a 30 min practice followed by a 30 min game. Juniors (approx ages 7-10) have a 40 min practice and 40 min game. Seniors (approx ages 11+) have a 45 min practice and 45 min game
When will my child’s schedule be available?
1 week before opening day! We would love to release the schedules sooner, but the majority of parents sign up late which causes reorganizing practice/game schedules. You can check it here https://www.i9sports.com/member/schedule
Does my child plays at the same time every week?
It is safer to assume that your child will NOT play at the same time every week because when there are more teams than courts/fields, the start times vary week to week so that your child's team has the opportunity to play different teams each week. Reminder to always check your Schedule here https://www.i9sports.com/member/schedule
Is your program inclusive to children with special needs?
Yes, as long as their is no safety issue involved (phsyical disabilities that put the child or other children at risk or a non-physical disability that is severe and impacts the coach's ability to deliver a fun experience to the team).
Can I register my child for more than one sport in a season?
Yes! It will be a separate charge for each program, but you're welcome to sign up for more than one sport per season. If there is a schedule conflict, then we can move one of your registrations to the next season, allow you to choose a different sport this season, or accommodate you the best we can!
How are the leagues divided?
We look at the spread of the ages for the players registered and choose age divisions that help the majority of the league. Whenever possible, we will stay within 2 ages per division, but when there are not enough players to accommodate this we go as high as 3 ages per division for pee wee and juniors and 4 ages for seniors.
Are there different levels within each league?
As of right now, no. Our leagues are not large enough to sub-divide them by level (beginner and advanced), however it is something that we will be revisiting as the league grows and we can accommodate this subdivision.
Are all the sports co-ed?
Unless it is indicated online, all of our programs are co-ed. Any all girls programs will be labeled GIRLS ONLY.
Are there make up dates for cancellations?
It is the responsibility of the customer to attend each program date, so unfortunately there are no make-up dates, especially for leagues where the player is assigned to a team and we cannot ask the entire team and other teams to shift their schedules for one player.
Can my child play with his/her friends?
While it is not guaranteed, yes we do accept buddy requests. Note the name of your child's friend on your registration form and we will do our best to pair them together.
When we publish the team assignments and schedules 1 week before the start date of leagues, if their team names do not match you can call or email the league office (league.office405@i9sports.com to see if the request was missed or if there was a reason why they could not be paired
(common reasons are they fall in different age groups, or one player signed up late and the buddy's team roster was already full, or a popular player or coach has more requests than spots on the team).
Can my child play in an upper or lower division?
We allow players to move up in age division if the parent believes they are ready for that level. Moving down is frowned upon for the safety of the younger players, but we will consider such requests on a case by case basis as every child develops at their own pace.
How are the rules of the game enforced?
There will be a trained ref at every game with the exception of baseball (introductory league of T-Ball and Coach Pitch). For other sports, the league office will share the rules each sport and age group with the coaches and it's up to the coaches to teach this at practice.
The refs will call the game according to the age group to keep the game moving.
For example, if the ref calls every violation on pee wees, then the kids will get very little actual playing time and it won't be as fun. We have a gradual progression toward regular rules for each sport.
Is there a playoff system?
Pee wees do not have playoffs - we believe they are too young to feel pressure to win playoffs/championship games, so all pee wees receive a participation trophy at the end of the season for league play.
Juniors and seniors have playoffs when there are more than 2 teams in the age division. Playoff winners advance to the championship game where they winner will receive a 1st place award and the everyone else receives a participation medal.
For juniors and seniors with only 2 teams in the age division, the final game is considered the championship game and the winner will receive the 1st place medal.
Who will be coaching my child?
Our leagues are coached by volunteers, typically a parent of one of the players on the team.
Coaches have the opportunity to earn a discount toward a future season after completing their 1st season and fulfilling the coaching requirements.
